We all cruise Pinterest and ooh and ah over the recipes, the fashions, the makeup tutorials, and of course, the knitting projects. I could go on all night. Pinterest is this massive collection of stunning images and great ideas.
But do you ever actually follow through and DO any of those tutorials?
Well, I do. I have been burned by most of the recipes, unless it’s from a well known personality like Martha Stewart or Giada. Straight up people. I love ANYTHING Giada does. Seriously. She’s my biggest girl crush, and I secretly wish I could be besties with her. (Not so secret anymore!)
Today’s post is about a cute tutorial I pinned last week.
The blogger used some ceramic birds I recognized from Michael’s. So when I saw those birds were on sale, and I found some glass containers I liked, I decided I would try it out.
This is like the EASIEST project in the world.

So here’s your supply list.
- The ceramic birds
- Some jars with lids
- A glue gun
That’s it! I told you this was easy! The tutorial I saw on Pinterest used old candle jars, but I didn’t have any of those. These glass containers were on sale, and I had a coupon so my total investment in this project may have been $5.

And Voila! In a couple of quick swipes of a glue gun, you have your completed project!
This is Saturday afternoon crafting at its finest.

My only real tips are that you do want to be pretty liberal with the glue on the bottom of the bird. Coat the whole surface that will make contact with the glass. After the glue has been applied, hold the bird in place with a little pressure for about a minute. And then leave the project to sit untouched for a couple of days to give the glue time to set.

My plan is to put my tea bags in them and store them on the window sill. I put some fake ice stuff in the jars for the purposes of the picture.
I can also see storing my paper flowers in them as that collections grows. I loved those paper flowers in the scrap booking section, but didn’t have a use for them so I didn’t buy them. Now I’ve decided to use them in my photography, so I get to start collecting them.
I might have to make a couple more of these jars while I can still get the supplies. The stuff is all on clearance so it’s going to be gone pretty soon. If you want to try this out for yourself, I would not wait long. The jars were almost gone as were the birds when I was in the store last weekend.

I’m trying out some new things with my photography, and this project was part of this new experimentation. I photographed it with two different backgrounds.
The colorful one is using some absolutely gorgeous paper I’ve had for years. I wanted to try it out as all the craft photo courses I’ve been watching say to use fancy papers and fabrics for a background. Then I did the set up with the plain white background. I don’t know which one I like better, so I wanted to share them both with you. What do you think? Which one do you prefer?
I’m also taking a course with MakeLight Studios on craft photography, and that’s where I got the idea to add the paper flowers. I am going to be doing quite a bit of new stuff coming up, so I get to try out all the good ideas I’m learning about. Get ready for a visual cornucopia!
I hope you try out this super easy, but really rewarding little project. Honestly, you could glue gun any cute little thing onto a jar. So if you found vintage ceramic figures in the second hand store, that could be super cute. Personally, I’m having a bird phase, so this worked well for me! If you do try this, let me know and send me some photos!! I’d love to see what you come up with. We can share them on the facebook page which would be fun. You are following me there, right?
It goes without saying, I’d love you to follow me on Pinterest as well. I pin a mix of repins as well as cool things I find on the internet and curate into the collections. So I have fresh content for you, and I think you will like it.
