To celebrate Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, I’m releasing a Hufflepuff inspired set of two Easy Knitting Patterns.
Today’s update is designed to get you in the mood for the newest movie release from J.K. Rowling. In case you don’t know, (how can you not know this), Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is coming to theaters on November 11th. There are many exciting things about this event. So many exciting things. Not the least of which is that the hero of the story reigns from the House of Hufflepuff.
Can I get a Hufflepuff Pride shout out in the house?
I’m a loud and proud (which means I’m quietly sipping chamomile tea) Hufflepuff myself, so I’m jazzed up beyond belief to see a movie than is all about a brave and smart Hufflepuff. Not to mention, he’s an absolutely adorably handsome English man. Handsome in the way that only English men are. (And why they are my favorites.) So you can bet I’m going to be there for the first showing wearing my Hufflepuff gear.
Allow me to introduce you to my newest knitting pattern. I named it Helga’s Favorite, and I’m going to explain why.
This is no ordinary neck warmer, my lovely readers. Oh no. It’s special both in the way that it’s knit and in the yarn choices. Because you see, even though I knit and photographed the pattern to pay homage to none other than Helga Hufflepuff, the neck warmer is easily adaptable to all the Houses. Not all yarns have the right colors to do this, so I was very choosy in my yarn selection.
And if you substitute yarns only by changing the color, but use the same brand, you can easily the knit this pattern as written. Also, this is craft store yarn, and it’s easy to get and is affordable.
I ask you, “What’s not to love about this? Did I mention it’s a super easy knitting pattern? yeah. Even more to love.”
Hufflepuffs are known far and wide for their expertise with plants, or Herbology, as we refer to it. And we love animals. I, myself, excel in the Care of Magical Creatures, and I feel at least somewhat certain that if you are reading this blog, then you do as well.
Which brings me to THIS:
My precious dog adored knitting, and LOVED to model cowls for his mommy. He generally wore red, as I believe he was a Gryffindor through and through. But he looked so handsome in this golden yellow. This is made from the same yarn as the neck warmer, so you can make something for yourself, and something for your doggy.
Which leads me to THIS:
Have you ever seen such a cute BFF Set? I really, truly did wear Mommy and Me knits with Willie. He loved it, I loved it and all the people we saw when we were out loved it. Talk about spreading joy!
Because is there anything more Hufflepuffish in nature than the desire to spread joy and happiness?

Need more reasons to Love Hufflepuff?
- Hufflepuffs won’t turn into a Dark wizard after a bad break-up
- They’re accepting of everyone
- Even J.K. Rowling thinks Hufflepuffs are brilliant
Yeah, so if you are hiding in the Badger’s Den afraid to show your colors, I invite you to have some Hufflepuff Pride. You can start by knitting and wearing your colors to the Movie next weekend.

This cute mini collection is packaged as a set. But here’s the really awesome part…….
The Dog Cowl is free with the neck warmer purchase. Um yeah. Free 99, people. If you buy one pattern you get the other for free.
Why am I doing this?
Because I am a Hufflepuff, of course! And because I want to encourage you to try out knitting for your dog if you haven’t already. The pattern is sized for S to XL. In all truthfulness, the Small size is a dog with a 14″ neck, so this is not going to really work for little bitty dogs. This style knit didn’t lend itself well to tiny pooches. Sorry about that. Little dogs already have SOOOOOO many things available, that I thought the bigger guys needed some love. Be patient and I’ll come up with something that works for the little guys, too. I also need to find a mini model, so there’s also that. But I digress…..
Look at my baby in his Golden Boy Dog cowl. Is there anything more perfect than this for fall?
So you’re not Hufflepuff? Well no worries my wizardly friend. This yarn line has colors to represent all the houses. Written into the Neckwarmer Pattern, which I named Helga’s Favorite, I share with you the color options to knit any of the houses. Even Slytherins can get in on the neck wear love.
Because even Slytherins get chilly in winter, and in the interest of extending kindnesses to all, I want to make sure my Serpantly friends have proper knitted gear, too.
You’ll love the ease of making these lovely patterns, and get so many compliments on your new FO. Honestly. People go nuts for it. You will have something that is simply not in the stores. It’s a quick and easy knit. It looks deceptively like a familiar pattern, but it’s not. It’s something else entirely.
And with a 2 Row repeat, this is the ultimate in TV Knitting.
It knits fast enough, you can even make these for Christmas gifts. You have time. What I like so much about these two color combo patterns is that they are suitable for sports teams as much as Hogwarts Houses.
Thank you in advance for you kind support and lovely words! I hope you will enjoy knitting this pattern as much as I do! Please tag your knits with #pattymacknits so we can all enjoy your work. If you make this and wear it to the movie, you get double points! Shoot a selfie in your gear with the Movie Poster! You can believe I will be doing just that.
